I was an athlete all through high school and ended up injuring my knee right before my senior year. I continued to play sports and just dealt with the pain until I ended up having to have surgery during college. I tried to keep working out on my own and stay active. A few years later, I had another knee surgery. From that point on, I changed my workout routine and didn’t run for several years. I just worked out from home doing “Insanity.” I later became a fitness instructor at World Gym for a couple of years. The location that I worked at closed, and then I was right back to working out in my living room every morning. My husband had done some CrossFit with some friends a couple of times and tried to convince me to do it too. I was very leery of it just because of the stereotypical mindset that CrossFit would cause injuries. My husband saw an add for a promotion going on at a CrossFit gym nearby and asked if I would check it out with him. I did, very reluctantly, and threw every question and concern that I could come up with at the owner of the gym. I committed to try it out with my husband for 6 weeks… 5 years later (2023), my husband and I, both, are L2 Trainers and our entire family is involved in CrossFit! We love it! My knee is stronger than ever, and I see results in my body that I have not seen with any other workout routine that I have tried. My two teenage daughters wanted to join because they saw the physical changes that were taking place in me. There is truly a place for everyone in CrossFit! We LOVE the community and truly feel like we’re getting to workout with close friends everyday! I’d highly recommend CrossFit to everyone, regardless of age, size or physical abilities/limitations.
